I have some lavender oil at home. I was wondering how do i know if it pure oil? How do i know if the oil is too old? What can i do with this oil? I use it to help me sleep. How can i make my room smell like it?
What are some other good oils and what can they be used for? Thanks :)

For the lavender Oil

- This may be obvious, or maybe not, but look for the words "pure essential oil". If the bottle says "fragrance oil", "fragrant oil", "perfume oil", or even "aromatherapy oil" the chances are this is a synthetic product.

-. Look for "100% essential oil". Many more precious oils are diluted at 3-5% in a base oil such as jojoba, to make the price more attractive. But such oils are useless in a vaporiser as they are simply not strong enough. These dilutions do have their uses, but the fact they are diluted should be clearly stated. If you are unsure then an easy way to test for yourself is to place a drop of the oil on absorbent paper. A pure essential oil will evaporate leaving little or no mark on the paper. A diluted oil will leave a greasy oil mark and will not evaporate.

- Most good essential brands have a best by date on the label

- Finally look for a botanical name on the bottle. This is the latin name given to each species. For example, true lavender is lavandula angustifolia, While common names can sometimes be unclear, but the botanical name will always be more precise.

As for using the oil these articles should point you in the right direction espeically the one on vaporisation http://aromatherapyandnaturalskincare.com.au/index.php?essential_oils=99

Hope this helps

This is a video where I talk about some of the perfumes that I own and my opinions.

PS- Sorry about the few distractions! (Trumpet playing, my shirt, my aweful headband, and my two ‘missing’ nails–obviously acrylics that fell off, haha.) I would have redone the video, but I put so much time into it already…I really didn’t want to. Anyways, enjoy! :)

http://www.tiffanyrowan.com/essentialoils Oil and water doesn’t mix so you need bath salts to help the properties of the oils disperse into the bath water.

Add 5 drops of Young Living essential oil to every 1/3 cup of Epson salts or Sea Salts. Then place 1/3 cup of your new Bath Salt into your hot running water for a wonderful, aromatic experience.

With Young Living essential oils, you do not have to worry about getting an infection like you would with bubble baths. They are unadulterated and free of synthetic chemicals.

Use your common sense about which essential oils to place in your bath salts. Obviously oils like Oregano or Peppermint are going to be uncomfortable to the skin. I cannot guarantee the safety of other companies. Because of genitalia, use only Young Living essential oils.

also what do you recommend for anxiety
i know Lavender a is good i also heard peppermint is good .. any others ? :)

Not peppermint for anxiety. Orange oil, lavender, Clary sage. I like Young living oils best.

I want to get my mom a massage for mothers day and they offer a swedish massage and an aromatherapy massage. I never go to the spa so whats the difference between the two?

For Swedish massage a link is included at the bottom, explaining what is Swedish massage.

The only issue is that for area of pain and discomfort, massage therapists use lotion. For areas without pain they use oil or lotion (depends on what is the preferred method by the therapist or spa). Low quality massage oils do not have enough traction, so massage therapists hands do glide. Lotions on the other hand have traction. They tend to have synthetics and alcohol, which dries your skin.

Aromatherapy massage is great for your skin because they add essential oils, and usually they will wrap you in it. It is great for detox and relaxation, depends on essential oils they are adding.

Personally, I am using a base blend of organic oils for massage, with or without essential oils. One of the benefits is that it can be used for Swedish or deep tissue massage; it has the traction and glide necessary. I do not need to take a shower after the massage, since it absorbs readily. I use it also as body oil. I do not use the spa or massage therapist oil, or lotion anymore.

If your mother needs some muscular work done on her, I will go for the Swedish massage. If your mother needs relaxation, I will go for the aromatherapy massage.

http://www.tiffanyrowan.com/essentialoils One-time use of Oregano oil and the growth on my finger died overnight. I knew that Young Living Oregano oil killed growths like warts, but I wanted to take ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures so I never got around to using it even though the discomfort of the growth was a daily reminder that it was still there. The night after using Raindrop oils (which contains Oregano) on my husband’s back, I noticed that the growth had shriveled up and died, and just left scabs behind. All you see in the video is a pink circle where the growth had existed before it died. What used to be 1/4″ tall was now nothing but two scabs. Amazing, powerful, and fast.

I’m recently into aromatherapy. All I know is that the scents Lavender and Lemongrass give off a calming effect, so I bought both of them in candle form.
I’m not look specifically for calming scents, but a list of different basic candle scents that you can find at any given store and what their effect might be.

Basically, I’m not quite sure where to find a list of scents and their effects. Does anyone know of anything?

Candles provide a great way of getting a good aroma, just bear in mind that this is not the best way to get the therapeutic properties from the essential oils (indeed most aromatherapy candles just contain Fragrance oils and not essential oils – so they have no real therapeutic benefit.!!)

As for the oils to assist in with calming:-

Mental Fatigue – Basil, Bergamot, Geranium, Grapefruit, Lemon, Peppermint, Rosemary, Spearmint, Thyme

Anxiety & Tension – Bergamot, Cypress, Lavender, Lime, Marjoram, Patchouli, Petitgrain, Ylang ylang

Sleeplessness – Bergamot, Chamomile Roman, Lavender, Marjoram, Sweet Orange, Petitgrain, Ylang ylang

Headaches – Cajeput, Chamomile Roman, Clary Sage, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Marjoram, Peppermint, Rosemary, Thyme

Stress – Basil, Bergamot, Chamomile Roman, Clary Sage

If you are looking to gain the full therapetic effect from essetinal oils as well as the scent you may find this article titled "Aromatherapy Methods of Use – Vaporisation" of interest http://aromatherapyandnaturalskincare.com.au/index.php?essential_oils=167&Aromatherapy%20Vaporisation

Hope this helps!!

I’m planning on making a jojoba and moringa oil mixture to apply to my skin. I also want to add some essential oils because I’d love to smell like a flowerbed in a forest.

Would this be a wise idea? I’ve already ordered the ingredients and will settle for making my own perfume… but I just thought this could be a two birds, one stone sorta deal by mixing a few drops of essential oil into the jojoba/moringa mixture.

Thank you!

Good choices for facial oils!

Jojoba oil is great because it helps eliminating excess facial oil, this benefit does help in restoring skin’s oil balance. It has a long shelf life.

Moringa oil is light and spread readily on the face, also it has great oxidative ability and therefore has a long shelf life.

In the base oil mixture use more jojoba oil than moringa, it is an option to consider.

Essential oils that will benefit facial oil.
Frankincense
Lavender
Lemon
Juniper
Roman and German Chamomile
